The cemeteries on Hilton Head Island contained, for the most part, African-American slaves of the local plantation owners. Many no longer exist. Volunteers from the Heritage Library have compiled information from various sources about all the cemeteries on the island. This information is filed in a binder available in the library.

The library has no information on three additional cemeteries, Honey Horn, New Church of Christ, and Simmons Memorial Garden.
